According to the Greek Legislation, the limits of public exposure to Electromagnetic radiation are stricter than the limits mentioned in the Recommendation of the European Union.

Existing legislation in Greece

Law 3431, Government Gazette 13 / A / 3-2-2006 "On Electronic Communications and other provisions", article 31 "Arrangements regarding the installation of antennas"

The provisions of this article apply to the construction of antennas for which a license is required by item A of par. 2 of article 1 of law 2801/2000 (Government Gazette 46 A '). The Greek Atomic Energy Committee (Greek Atomic Energy Commission) is obliged to control the observance of the levels of safe exposure of the public to electromagnetic radiation from each antenna, either through its commission or with special crews authorized by the commission.

The provisions of this article apply to the construction of antennas for which a license is required by item A of par. 2 of article 1 of law 2801/2000 (Government Gazette 46 A '). By a joint decision of the Ministers of Development and Transport and Communications, following a proposal of the G.A.E.C, the manner of conducting the measurements and any other relevant details is determined.

The levels of the European Union for the exposure of the public to electromagnetic radiation are introduced in the Greek Legislation. Control mechanisms are defined for the levels of electromagnetic radiation emitted by antenna stations of all kinds.

A net number, called Exposure Ratio, is used to balance the public exposure by a device or devices operating in a narrow frequency band. The Total Exposure Ratio, which results from the sum of the relative exposure ratios for the same physical quantity (electric or magnetic field) and the same effect (electrostimulatory or thermal) at a measuring point at a given time, is used in this Regulation to assess whether the reference levels for exposure to electromagnetic radiation are exceeded.

The levels of public exposure to hospitals, nursing homes, schools, and nurseries are required to be below 60% of the values ​​set out in Articles 2 to 4 of Decision No. 53571/3839 / 1.9.2000 or the corresponding decision of the Ministers. Digital Governance, Environment and Energy. For the general population, safe exposure limits should be below 70% of the corresponding values.

The Greek Atomic Energy Commission, as well as authorized bodies, are responsible for the observance of the limits of safe exposure of the population to Electromagnetic radiation.
